After the Crisis and Hope Town Hall meeting November 18, 2019 we recognized that facing up to our challenging circumstances is no easy matter. To this end, Tom Heatherington would like to meet with those interested in a Kits House Neighbourhood Support Group that would meeting four evenings to respond to the emotional issues we all face.
From Climate Grief to Action (FCGA)
A safe, supportive and unbiased environment for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The support group is designed to assist those experiencing psychological and emotional distress due to the long term consequences of the climate crisis.
1. My Story:
Voluntarily share personal stories and/or journeys to express the thoughts,
grief, and actions taken in relation to the climate emergency
2. Mindfulness Exercises:
Using songs, spiritual metaphors, storytelling and guided imagery exercises
to help process and calm distress
Facilitator: Tom Hetherington
Tom is a recently retired MSW, Social Worker, who has supervised professional teams of counselors and students for many years. This program was developed with other retired professionals and a university student from City University of Seattle in Vancouver.
